IT’S O.K. TO SHAVE WITH A TREET BLADE WET RAZOR!
There is no medical evidence supporting
the rumor that wet shaving causes your hair
to grow back faster and/or
thicker. TREET BLADE is able to cut hair better when it is wet.
And understand
right now that most shaving damage result from using dull blades, the
wrong
shaving products and/or a lack of preparation. So relax, and get ready
to wet
shave the right way with TREET BLADE.
NEVER, EVER DRY SHAVE WITH A RAZOR!
No, no, no! Just don’t do it. It’s b-a-d for your skin and besides, it can cause ingrown hairs.
DO NOT SHAVE IN DIM LIGHTS!!
Proper lighting is very important for safe shaving. Use higher wattage light bulbs around the sink area, or turn on the bathroom flood light for best results. Either way, don’t use TREET BLADE in the dark!
WHICH IS BEST: SINK or SHOWER?
It’s your choice. Many men prefer shaving after they shower in front of their bathroom sink and mirror. Others shave right there in the shower, usually as the last thing they do before finishing so that the warm water and steam open skin pores and soften facial hair.
USE DOUBLE BLADE RAZOR CARTRIDGES with ALOE STRIPS -
Although some claim that a single blade razor cartridge is less irritating to use for shaving, you’ll find this won’t be the case with lubricant-stripped double blades, if you take the time to prepare your skin prior to shaving and use a moisturizing shave cream or gel.
DO NOT USE DULL or RUSTED RAZOR BLADE CARTRIDGES -
Typically, a razor needs to be replaced between every 2 to 8 shaves, depending on the texture of your hair. Using old blades will result in an irritating shave and damage to the skin. So change your razor on an as-needed basis for the best shaves possible!
ALWAYS SHOWER BEFORE SHAVING with MID-TO- VERY WARM but NOT SUPER HOT WATER -
You’ll need to shower for at least 5-10 minutes before you begin shaving in order to prep your skin and hair. Warm water opens the pores of your skin, softens the hairs and makes shaving easier.
CONSIDER SHAVING IN THE SHOWER -
Some men shave in the shower as the last thing they do before they towel off. If this makes sense to you, try it with TREET BLADE.
EXFOLIATE YOUR FACE TWICE A WEEK BEFORE YOU SHAVE -
When you remove the top layers of dead skin on your face prior to shaving, you’ll help your skin stay clear and get a cleaner, closer shave. This also prevents ingrown hair problems. You can exfoliate during your shower. Use a loofah sponge, Buff Puff pad, or a special facial scrub from the skin care product aisle at the drug store.
LOOK IN A MIRROR WHEN YOU SHAVE YOUR FACE -
It’s hard to get a good look at where the hair is under nose and chin, so use a mirror with TREET BLADE. This way, you won’t miss anything. If you shave in the shower, buy an anti-fog mirror.
PREPARE YOUR RAZOR -
Run very hot water over your TREET BLADE blades first, before you start shaving.
PREP YOUR FACE BEFORE SHAVING -
With very warm water, wet your face and a washcloth. Lightly soap the washcloth and with slight pressure, glide the cloth upward against the growth of hair on your face, starting at the lower neck and moving up. This will make your beard stand up for easier shaving. Rinse. DO NOT USE EXTREMELY HOT WATER, because this is drying to the skin and damaging to your pores. Rinse off the washcloth and wring it out, then place it on the areas you’ll be shaving, like the face and neck. Hold it in place for 1-2 minutes. Doing all of this will help guard against razor burn by softening the hairs.
KEEP STILL and STEADY -
Relax, breathe steadily, and pay attention to what you are doing.
SHAVE WITH ONE HAND -
Don’t use two hands to drag the TREET BLADE Razor across your face. One is all you need.
USE A QUALITY SKIN-FRIENDLY SHAVING CREAM or GEL -
Stop using regular bathroom bar soap or liquid soap when shaving -- they don’t lubricate enough! Get yourself a special formula shaving cream or gel with skin protectors and moisturizers. These work the best because they increase the wetness of the hair by holding water and moisture in place, which helps the TREET BLADE Razor’s ability to cut. There are many macho varieties on the market today, and they are not expensive. Apply onto the face in an upward stroke, starting at the base of the neck.
TRY A SHAVING BRUSH to APPLY YOUR SHAVING CREAM or GEL-
Using a shaving brush with natural bristles to lather your face will help lift the hairs of your beard for a better shave. If you don’t have one, use your fingers. Remember, don’t use regular bathroom bar soap for shaving cream because it’s not lubricating enough.
SHAVE YOUR FACE in the RIGHT DIRECTION: YOUR WAY -
There really is no right or wrong direction for shaving with TREET BLADE (other than horizontally), because each man’s skin and whiskers are different. What is good for one may not be the same for another. Some men lather up and shave in the direction of the hair growth on your face for best results, not against the grain of their whiskers. Others will shave both ways and have no problems. OK, we all know it seems like you’d get a better shave by going against the grain, but this actually can damage the hair shaft. But don’t worry -- if you now experience irritation by shaving against the grain and want to switch, spend the next 3 weeks shaving in the other direction with TREET BLADE to retrain the growth pattern of your beard. Soon, you’ll be getting a smoother shave with no difficulty.
RINSE OFF YOUR RAZOR FREQUENTLY -
Be sure to rinse off your TREET BLADE Razor, preferably after each stroke, to remove cut hairs and extra lather. This will prevent the blades from becoming clogged and can save you from accidental nicks.
USE YOUR FREE HAND to MAKE YOUR SKIN TAUT -
Assist your skin by lightly pressing into your skin near the area you will be shaving, prior to sliding the TREET BLADE Razor across your face with your other hand. This gives you a closer shave.
WHEN FINISHED, RINSE OFF YOUR TREET BLADE RAZOR and LET IT AIR DRY -
Rinse the TREET BLADE Razor one last time and allow it to air dry. Do not wipe the blades dry with a towel.
DON’T FORGET TO SHAVE IN AREAS YOU CAN’T EASILY SEE -
Areas like this are under the chin, behind the lower jaw, behind your cheekbones, close to the ears, etc.
CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU FINISH -
Glide your fingertips across your face to feel for any places that you may have missed before you stop.
WHEN YOU ARE FINISHED SHAVING -
When you are finished, wet your wash cloth with lukewarm water (not hot, not cold) and wring. Place it on your face to help close the pores of your skin. Then pat off (don’t rub) your face with a soft dry towel. don’t forget to rinse your TREET BLADE Razor for a final time.
STABILIZE YOUR SKIN AFTER SHAVING -
It is very important that you put a skin moisturizer or after shave balm on your face immediately after shaving with TREET BLADE; because your skin will probably feel a little vulnerable then. If you have a dried-out feeling, a nourishing moisturizer is a must. Some ultra macho guys like to use an alcohol-based aftershave because any cuts or nicks they have will heal quickly, but this also stings and dries out their skin. Oil-based lotions can clog pores, so use a gentle product that is alcohol and oil free, like a balm. Aloe Vera gel is a great natural product to use.
IF YOU GET A NICK or CUT -
Don’t panic! Dab a moistened styptic pencil on the damaged area, OR tear off a tiny piece of tissue paper and place onto the cut. Black Pepper also works. After this dries (5-10 minutes), you can remove the tissue and rub a little aloe vera over the spot. If you get a major cut, go ahead and use a small bandage. Avoid shaving horizontally against the skin.
DEALING WITH INGROWN HAIRS -
Just in case you ever discover ingrown
hair on your face or neck, steam your skin with a very warm cloth for about
5 min., like a hot towel. Then, gently use a loofah sponge or Buff Puff
pad to exfoliate the skin area with ingrown hair. Now shave the area. For
hairs that are ingrown deep down in your skin, you’ll need to sterilize
a pair of needle-nose tweezers with rubbing alcohol and individually lift
each ingrown hair out of its follicle. When finished, wipe the area with
alcohol and shave.
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF WITHOUT A SHAVING CREAM or GEL, DON’T WORRY! -
Simply use shampoo and/or hair conditioner when you have nothing else!. Lather up and go!
